Black Lives are Sacred MKE invites you to an Interfaith Witness of the Dignity Black Lives. They will pray for peace, and remember those who lost their lives as a result of racial violence. This is not a protest but a Witness – designed especially for those who may not have prior experience standing up for racial equity.
At 1:00 pm they will gather outside of Our Lady of Divine Providence-St. Casimir Church, 2600 N Bremen St, Milwaukee.
At 1:30 they will walk 1/2 mile to Kilbourn Reservoir Park (2230 N Bremen St, Milwaukee) for a memorial service to remember Black lives lost to racial violence. The program includes:
– a witness from Linda & Jay Anderson Sr., who will speak to the memory of those in Milwaukee and America who should be alive and with their families
– a reflection from author Pardeep Singh Kaleka, Executive Director of Interfaith Conference of Greater Milwaukee
– a prayer lead by Rev. Cecil Lacy whose ministry was informed by the death of his brother at the hands of MPD
– music and inspiration from Fire Shed
This is a family-friendly and socially distanced event. Masks are required, as they show your commitment to love of your neighbors. For ongoing details refer to the Facebook event “Milwaukee Witness for Black Lives,” found at https://fb.me/e/1hkkf1acZ.
